About I Was A Teenage Vampire, how it is made, what to expect, and where development is headed.
About
I Was A Teenage Vampire is a narrative-driven adult visual novel in development.
The game pays homage to the comedies, horror flicks, and dramas of the late '80s. Think The Lost Boys meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High, with a dash of Risky Business and a whole lot of VHS grit.
The story follows a group of misfits navigating their final weeks of class in the sleepy town of Silver Lake, 1989. You play as a broke teenager trying to scrape together enough cash for a car, juggling odd jobs, dodging bullies, chasing girls, and, oh yeah... unraveling a supernatural mystery that's been lurking just beneath the surface of your hometown.
Strange dreams. Missing students. Blood on the pavement. The authorities claim there's a serial killer on the loose, but the evidence doesn't add up. As your visions grow more vivid, you start to suspect the truth is something far older... and far more dangerous. Something is feeding in Silver Lake, and it's not done yet.
You'll explore branching storylines, visit locations around town, and meet friends, rivals, and more than a few seductive strangers along the way. Romance isn't just a side quest, it's the heart of your story. Whether it's the childhood friend who pushes you to be better, the punk runaway hiding her pain behind sarcasm, or the spoiled rich girl pulling you deeper into her web, each relationship unfolds uniquely. Your choices determine who you get close to... and who you might just fall in love with.
The game features a male protagonist. Build relationships through your actions, romance one girl, multiple girls, or no one at all. Every decision shapes how your summer, and your humanity, ends.
Whether you're here for the laughs, the love, or the lurking horror, this is a story about youth, desire, and the monsters we all carry.
Frequently Asked Questions
General questions about the game, story, content, and player choices.
When is the next update?
There are no specific release dates. The game is developed by a solo developer, and updates are announced as they become ready.
What kind of game is I Was A Teenage Vampire?
I Was A Teenage Vampire is a narrative-driven visual novel inspired by 1980s teen horror, romance, and comedy films like The Lost Boys, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It's part coming-of-age story, part supernatural mystery, and part sexy, absurd, VHS-fueled indulgence.
Who is the main character?
You play as an average guy in 1989: poor, awkward, and trying to survive the final weeks of school in the town of Silver Lake. You can define his name and many of his emotional choices. Like many '80s movie protagonists, he's caught between growing up... and transforming into something else.
Is this an adult game?
Yes. I Was A Teenage Vampire contains explicit sexual content, nudity, suggestive humor, and dark themes. All characters are depicted as 18 or older. The story blends sex appeal, horror, emotional drama, and absurdity, true to its 1980s inspiration.
Can I romance more than one character?
Yes. The game supports multiple romance routes and even a harem-style outcome, if you make the right choices. Each love interest has a unique tone, pacing, and emotional arc, from wholesome to dangerous.
Will choices matter?
Absolutely. Player choices shape relationships, character outcomes, and future plot branches. Whether you pursue love, power, or survival will affect how the story unfolds, and who stays with you in the end.
Are there going to be multiple endings, such as a "good" or "bad" ending?
Yes. Player choices influence relationship outcomes, morality paths, and which ending you unlock. There are multiple branching paths, ranging from romantic and hopeful to dark and power-hungry.
Will there be werewolves, witches, or other monsters?
Let's just say... vampires aren't the only thing lurking in Silver Lake. But we're not spoiling anything.
Is [Character X] a vampire?
Nice try...
Development
Artwork, technology, music, and how the project is built.
How do you make the art?
All of the graphics are built, designed, and rendered in 3D using Daz Studio. Each frame is then edited in Photoshop, corrected, and drawn over before being run through multiple custom filters to create a stylized, 2D illustrative look. This hybrid approach gives the characters and scenes painterly detail while retaining the fidelity of 3D rendering. Watch the making-of video →
What is SinScript Studios?
SinScript Studios is the umbrella publishing name for future titles by FatalMasterpiece, the solo developer behind IWATV. It will be used to release sequels, spinoffs, and other narrative-driven adult or supernatural games.
What engine is the game made in?
I Was A Teenage Vampire is made in Ren'Py, a visual novel engine that supports branching narratives, choice systems, and dynamic visuals. Earlier versions of the project were prototyped in Unity, but the current release is fully Ren'Py-based.
Is the game complete?
No. IWATV is in active development. Each version expands the story and adds new characters, scenes, animations, and polish based on player feedback.
Does the game have music?
Yes! IWATV features a retro soundtrack with synthwave, lo-fi, and ambient tracks that capture the VHS aesthetic and 1980s vibe. The title track was made by FatalMasterpiece, with more original songs in the works.
How do the version numbers work?
Each tenth-place increment represents a major update, such as 0.5, 0.6, or 0.7. Each hundredth-place increment represents a bug fix or minor update, such as 0.75 or 0.76. So version 0.81 represents the incomplete version of Part 1 on the eighth major update, with one minor update.

Will my saves carry over between versions?
We try to keep save compatibility between updates, but major version jumps may break older saves. If a new version includes breaking changes, we will always try to provide scene-skip or debug-jump features to help you continue your story quickly.
Are there plans for a sequel?
Yes. IWATV is planned as a multi-part story. Part 1 ends with a major turning point, and Part 2 will explore the aftermath of the protagonist's transformation, deeper vampire lore, and the consequences of earlier choices. Who knows what the future could bring? I Was A Teenage Exorcist?
Will the game be on Steam?
Eventually, yes. IWATV will release on Steam once it reaches 1.0 and is considered a polished, finished product. Until then, it's available via Patreon with regular content updates.
